Default Hall of monuments questions

Hello everyone. I've got a couple of questions regarding the hall of monuments. First of all I'm curious how long it would take me to get 30 points and 45 points respectively in the hall of monuments? I don't have time to play a lot (maybe roughly 2 hours a day if even that) so I'm thinking 30 points will have to do, but since the legend of the mists title is the title I like the most, I thought I'd ask.

EDIT: If it helps, my account was made back when gw was launched so I've got quite a lot of miniatures (at least 20 I think) if that helps to speed things up a bit.

Also, I've been trying to find a decent guide for filling the hall of monuments, but all the guides I've found have been very vague and I was hoping someone here could point me in the right way. Thanks.

First of all, check the Guide to 30 HoM Points that is posted in the general discussion board.

I think two hours a day should be sufficient for 30 points, but if you want 45 it's gonna take considerably more effort (or gold). The curve can become rather steep, and that's when you get into having to do HM content and the more grindy tasks.

Keep in mind that we have no idea when GW2 is being released. Right now it looks like you have plenty of time to fill up your HoM, get GWAMM, or any other goals you might set.

We cannot give a precise time.
It's impossible to do so, because You & I don't have the same rhythm,
the same situation applies to everyone else.

Of course, if you buy your way out of it, and that a lot of players are selling the specified items (Item : X).

Depends what you do with your playing time, getting to 30 isn't too bad.
Some money will be very useful as will having a number of minipets

I did it with Elite armours Minipets Animal companions a few weapons mainly from war in kryta and a couple of others.
Very few titles were obtained I just gradually completed the bonus quests so I had all the main quests completed on all the games and a couple of other fairly easy quests to get a few statues in the hom
Anything that looked easy I did.

Look at buying elite armour for the most part what it looks like is irrelevant you are aiming for points so buy the cheapest elites that give you points in the hom and usually you can forget the headpiece.

Animal companions also easy to get, ditto some of the hero armours.
Got a few weapons from war in kryta and a few destroyer weapons.
Started a new character to get ldoa and am working on surviver but I have 32 points now so probably will not bother.

The easy areas of the hom are full I could grind titles get vabian and obby armour or work on getting the weapon section filled but It only gives me a title many will have so am stopping serious work on the hom for the forseable future.

Thank you for all the replies. I think I'll definitely aim for 30 points for starters and then see if there's time or if I even feel like going further. That is, if I even get the game installed.

As for GWAMM title, even if I had the time to get it which I doubt I'll have, in my opinion the title is a bit silly. I just think it's too over the top and sounds kind of boastful as well which I don't like either. Even though I suppose most of the titles are a bit boastful in any case, I think GWAMM takes it to a completely different level. This is just my opinion of course and I don't mind the title being in the game as long as it's not hovering over my characters.

----------

I have another question. I just opened all the birthday presents I've gotten over the years (21 in total I think). Here's the list of miniatures I got and I was wondering if any of them are worth selling to buy some cheaper miniatures instead, or are these pretty much the cheapest ones available? :P

white:
jade armor, juggernaut, 2x mursaat, ophil nahualli, 2x temple guardian, harpy ranger, quetzal sly, scourge manta, whiptail devourer, aatxe, cave spider, 2x krait neoss, cobalt scabara, thorn wold, seer

purple:
nian, ooze

I also got an everlasting koss tonic, although I'm not sure what it is?

See this for a general idea on minipets.

Just so you know... those titles were not created by ArenaNet people. Each rank in that particular track is a line from the film Anchorman, in which the main character is unrepentantly cocky and brash. It's silly and boastful, yes, but it is also a joke.

Don't fret, titles are displayed below your character

Well, you could always stop at 25 for the far more elegant and urbane "My Guild Hall Smells of Rich Mahogany" title.

Thanks for the link, I'll have to read through it once I get home from work. Also, thanks for explaning the origin of the titles, although I still only think it's funny if you know the context. Havin said that, 'My Guild Hall Smells of Rich Mahogany' does have a certain ring to it. I was under the impression that only the hom titles and GWAMM would carry over to GW2 though?

I have a question about professions. Mainly, which one should I choose with hall of monuments in mind? I would really like to have a character that would be decent for solo farming as well, just in case I decide to go for more than 30 hom points.

I went to the farming forums to search for builds but there's such a massive amount of builds that I have no idea where to start. The 55 hp monk builds caught my eye, but I figured it would have been a good idea to make a ranger to be able to get pet statues for hom. Still, if that isn't viable then maybe I should just level up a separate ranger character if that's needed. Any thoughts?

Lastly, is the everlasting koss tonic worth anything, or is it even tradeable?

About the Ranger part, all you need is to take at one point the Ranger as secondary, grab Charm Animal and you can tame the pets. Start with the Black Moa which will be level 20 right away.

Any class that floats your boat with the exception of Paragon (they can still solo farm... just it's a lot slower than the other classes).
If I HAD to choose, it would be these:
Ritualist (medium difficulty to master), Assassin (hardest to master), or Necromancer (easiest to master).

You don't need to make a ranger to have pets. By going secondary ranger and the skill Charm Animal you can charm to your heart's content :P
Where to start farming wise?
A majority of mobs can be farmed using Signet of Spirits:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Any/Rt_Spirit_Farmer
Keep in mind this build is NOT set in stone and most people DO adjust it toward their personal preferences.

Besides that, it's all profession based. For Sins, I would start simple at either Mantids or Troll Farming, as they are quick and very easy to learn/master. Ritualists (as well as any other class) can start almost anywhere with a Signet of Spirits build, keep in mind this build is generally slower than area-specific-farming builds. Necromancers... consult this on how to start.

It's worth a pretty penny.
Very high range, based on demand: 10-20 Ecto which equates to 70-140k gold roughly. I'd say it's a keeper, but you can find a buyer such as myself if I had the money...

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. That necromancer build looks interesting and I think I'll give it a shot. I only hope that the character will be useful for other things than just farming.
